4-C Adventures Program

4-C Adventures Program includes intentional, facilitated use of adventure-based activities and/or adventure-based theory to provide people with emotional and or behavioral difficulties with dynamic, hands-on experiences, which lead to positive change in their lives. 4-C Adventures combines the structure and discipline of treatment with the stimulation and challenge of an outdoor setting. 4-C Adventures is based on the philosophy that children and adults learn certain life skills best by doing and being deeply engaged or involved in what they are learning.
Our 4-C Adventures’ Challenge Course and Adventure Therapy facilitators have the technical skills and specialized training to ensure the participants’ safety. Physical and emotional safety is a top priority of the 4-C Adventures staff. All equipment and procedures conform to industry standards. It is important to note that the perceived risk is far greater than the actual risk. 4-C Adventures staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid, as well as in Behavior Management and Conflict Prevention and Intervention techniques.
The 4-C Adventures Program consists of the following activities:
- Experiential Group Therapy
- Adventure Therapy
- Low and High Ropes Challenge Course
- Climbing Wall and Rock Climbing
- Therapeutic Horsemanship
- Stress Management
- Art Therapy
- Healthy Recreation/Fitness
- Life Skills Building
Our program collaborates with a variety of other agencies and programs within Families and Youth, Inc. as well as the local community. Some of the agencies we partner with include NM Dept. of Children Youth and Families, The City of Las Cruces, Las Cruces Public Schools, The Las Cruces Police Department, Juvenile Corrections, Drug Court and Gang Intervention Programs, La Casa, Inc. Domestic Violence Shelter, La Piñon Sexual Assault Recovery Services, Adoptions and Treatment Foster Care Programs, the FYI Runaway Shelter, Residential Treatment Programs, The Bureau of Land Management, State and National Parks, and many others.
