Health Education, Prevention & Intervention Programs

Health Education, Prevention & Intervention Programs provides countywide services to youth of all ages. Prevention programs consist of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention/education focusing on decision-making, peer pressure, self esteem and positive self-image development when addressing substance use/abuse issues. Types of programs include curriculum training, one-day health fairs, youth leadership conferences and co0sponsoring community youth events.

The Program also provides Spanish & English interventions to the communities of Health District III. Services include health education/risk reduction programs to our at-risk populations, which are Women, Men having sex with Men, Youth, Injection Drug Users and other Substance Users, Incarcerated and Migrant Workers and their families. FYI utilizes Peer Educators to conduct street outreach to high risk individuals in both rural and urban settings, and also function to sustain healthy behavior change of clients.
