Community Based Programs

Our Community Based Program is a multifaceted service delivery program that focuses on the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families. The program strives to prevent child maltreatment and to reunify children from foster care back to their families safely. Embedded under the umbrella of Community Based Programs are the following program services: Community Based Primary & Secondary Prevention Services designed to provide individual, one to one support to improve parent-child interaction, healthy child development, and parent/caregivers’ knowledge to meet their children’s developmental needs. Primary Prevention services are designed to increase the community’s general knowledge about child abuse and neglect and awareness of child abuse prevention services. Family Support Services is a short term, community based service program that works with families in their homes and in the context of their neighborhoods to help them meet the basic needs of their children and prevent child maltreatment. Intensive Family Support Services are provided to families who are in crisis, and intensive, wraparound support is needed in order to prevent child abuse/neglect and maintain the children safely with their family of origin. Reunification Services ensure the safe return of children to their family of origin from foster care placement. The Reunification Program and Intensive Family Support Services only accepts referrals from CYFD. All other programs are open to community referrals.
